The updated MindLinks Building Block utilizes refactored logic that prevents the unnecessary instantiation of classes to process requests that lead to resource constraints. |

Through our new partnership with Microsoft, Blackboard offers simplified, centralized access to Office 365 to help prepare students to be successful in their courses as well as in the workforce. Students at eligible schools can download Microsoft Office 365 for free through the Blackboard Learn environment. • Academic Materials content is now grouped by course to provide student better experience in viewing their course materials. • Removed "Academic Materials" system announcement. • Academic Materials UI enhancements including support of special characters and consistency of UI elements. • Academic Materials enhanced functionality to support vendor price verification of course materials displayed. Verified prices will now appear without the ‘Estimated Price’ label. • Academic Materials enhanced functionality to support supplemental materials. Available course material providers may provide related materials based on course materials already assigned by an instructor. |
| Pearson's MyLab and Mastering | 3.1.911600483 | 3.1.911600494 | October 14, 2014 | The following updates were made with the August 2014 release of Pearson’s MyLab & Mastering Building Block for SP13 and above: • BBCPE-489: In build #463, instructors were unable to reset the course pairing between Blackboard and Pearson. This issue was caused by the duplication of the “course_id” parameter within the URL preventing the Building Block from executing the proper call to Pearson to reset the course pairing. A workaround is available that entails manually editing the parameters in the URL. The October 2014 release includes updated logic that prevents this issue from occurring. • BBCPE-490: Release 3.1 of the Pearson MyLab & Mastering building block utilized logic to dynamically generate the URLs required to display icons within the system. The logic was unable to handle http/https variations and thus resulted in an error repeating in the logs for the building block. The icons displayed appropriately but the logs captured unnecessary error entries. The stack trace below is a sample of the log entries: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: images/Pearson-Logo-50x50.png at java.net.URL.(URL.java:585) ~[na:1.7.0_13] at java.net.URL.(URL.java:482) ~[na:1.7.0_13] at java.net.URL.(URL.java:431) ~[na:1.7.0_13] at com.blackboard.peusa.service.impl.DynamicIconServiceImpl.validateIconUrl(DynamicIconServiceImpl.java:304) [DynamicIconServiceImpl.class:na] The October 2014 release has adjusted the dynamic icon logic to prevent this error from occurring. • BBCPE-493: The grade sync task, manual or automated, would abort unexpectedly when it encountered a user identifier it could not decrypt. This would result in the sync process failing and students not receiving their grades. Research indicated that the data received by Blackboard from Pearson did not correspond to the environment but better error handling was needed in the building block. The logic has been updated so that these decryption errors are logged but do not interrupt the sync. • BBCPE-371: An improved scheduling mechanism has been included in this release to make the building block’s institution-level auto-sync for grades more robust and dependable. The improved scheduler is better able to recover after server and building block restarts. • BBCPE-502: Submitting the building block Settings page would clear out the Last Updated and Last Checked fields that capture statistics on the automated sync task. This issue has been addressed so those values remain after configuration changes are made. |
